Making a Difference in the
Lives of all Canadians

Empowering others to improve their lives through skills development

Who We Are

Skills Council of Canada

Skills Council of Canada (SCC) is an Ottawa-based education technology organization that supports all Canadians in accessing skill-development resources and tools to become job ready. With a focus on the more vulnerable and underserved groups across Canada such as racialized youth, students, the underemployed, unemployed and their communities, SCC achieves its objectives through a collaborative partner network.

By working with industry leaders and education experts across the country, SCC fosters opportunities for growth and employment through:

  • Skills Assessment Tools and Reporting
  • Online, self-paced skills development courses
  • Access to tutors and mentors
  • Connection to Work Integrated Learning (WIL) and Apprenticeship opportunities

Mission

We provide equitable access to inclusive, quality education and promote lifelong learning and employment opportunities for all.

Vision

We aspire to break down barriers to education and employment, bringing people together through the common goals of equality and inclusiveness.

Sustainable
Development Goals

“The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015, provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future. At its heart are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are an urgent call for action by all countries - developed and developing - in a global partnership. They recognize that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth – all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests.”

Skills Council of Canada’s leadership has been focused on contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals for many years. Education is the foundation that supports all SDGs and why we have made it the foundation of all our work.

Solutions

A Decade of Building

Skills Council of Canada has developed a skills development ecosystem that supports an individual’s journey to employment across all industries. Our solutions break down barriers to education and training and address the factors that contribute to an individual getting and sustaining meaningful employment.

Youth & Students

Being job ready with essential, hard, and soft skills is critical for future employment of young people. We offer a new way to access Work Integrated Learning (WIL) opportunities by bringing together employment partners, educators, tutors and coaches, and learners on one platform.

Unemployed & Underemployed

Access to meaningful training and employment is becoming increasingly difficult because of an ever-changing economic outlook, growing competition for jobs, and a shift in the traditional pathways into work. We support employment centers in providing access to skills development resources and helping learners become job ready.

New Employees

Employers are looking for individuals who have the skills to do the job today and are prepared for the jobs of tomorrow. We bring skill development opportunities that will make employees more productive, creative, innovative and in-demand.

Businesses & Entrepreneurs

Corporate, small and medium enterprises (SME), and entrepreneurs are the heart of our economy. We provide support to businesses with access to innovative skills development programs in today’s fastest growing industries.

Employment & Training Centers

We provide support for Indigenous and non-Indigenous employment and training centers across the country with access to skills development resources and tools to foster growth and the advancement of their communities.
